Powder coating

Our services
Metaltonas offers high quality powder coating services for metal products. We offer metal and other surfaces in the colours of your choice or from the full RAL color palette. We use only products from European powder coating manufacturers. We can also work with the manufacturers you propose. We use the world-renowned GEMA Swiss-made applicators. Dimensions of our heating/polymerization chambers and painting dimensions : L7000xH2000xW1500mm. ; L7700xH2000xW2000mm.

Powder coating is the process of applying protective coatings to surfaces by applying dry, electrostastically charged powders of typically thermoset or thermoplastic polymer onto a grounded surface using a specialized spray gun, forming a thin and even coat. Once applied, the coated surface is heated and/or cured to fuse the powder into a durable finish. Powder coating protects metals surfaces from corrosion, scratches, and other types of damage, and also provides a vibrant color finish. It is also a more environmentally friendly alternative compared to traditional painting methods. We apply the powder in a variety of thicknesses and textures.

What materials can be powder coated?
Before painting, metal products are washed in an automatic spray-phosphating cabinet. The washing process is carried out in a closed cycle.
The washing process consists of four cycles:
Degreasing - phosphating;
Rinsing with water;
Rinsing with distilled water;
Passivation (to ensure the surface is resistant against the environmental impact);
This preparation process is intended for products made of black steel, galvanised steel (sheet), hot-dip galvanised steel (brushed), aluminium (for internal use). After this preparation process, the product is coated with a phosphate film and zirconium particles, and receives an initial anti-corrosive protection, better adhesion to primer or paint, with a protective layer thickness of about 15 µ. In case of mechanical damage to the paint layer during use, this protection prevents the spread of corrosion beneath the paint, only the damaged area needs to be repaired.
After washing, the painted product must be dried.The drying process is carried out in an oven, the temperature of the oven does not exceed 140 ̊C, at higher temperatures the protective anti-corrosive coating cracks.

After drying, the product is transported to the painting chamber via a conveying system. The painting process takes place in a closed chamber. The product is coated with an even layer of powder using a powder spraying unit and with the help of an electrostatic field.

From the painting chamber, the product is transported to the polymerization furnace via a conveying system. In the polymerization furnace, the powder-coated product is heated to 180 - 200 degrees Celsius, as a result of which the powder melts, giving the product an even coating.

After the polymerization process, the coated surface is carefully inspected by our specialists to ensure that there are no quality discrepancies, and the product is packaged and prepared for delivery to the customer.

Powder coating, unlike traditional liquid coatings, involves several steps. Typically, stages in the powder coating process consist of :
